About Rosedale Readers
Rosedale Readers Learning Centre is a private, personalized tutoring service dedicated to supporting students with diverse learning needs. We specialize in individualized instruction for students from Grade 1 and up, with a focus on math, reading, writing, and spelling.
Our math instruction follows a structured, evidence based, multi-sensory approach, designed to build strong foundational skills, develop mathematical reasoning, and help students approach math with greater confidence. Every lesson is explicit, carefully paced, and tailored to each student's unique learning profile.
At Rosedale Readers, we believe every child can succeed when given the right tools and support. Struggling with math or other learning challenges is not a reflection of intelligence or effort. Our goal is to help students strengthen their math skills, build confidence, reduce stress around math, and feel proud of their progress.
The Role
We are looking for a warm, patient, and enthusiastic Math Tutor to join our team as an independent contractor. You will work one on one with students from Grade 1 to Grade 7, delivering structured math lessons at our centre located at 822 Millwood Road, Toronto, ON. Students may have a diagnosed or suspected learning difference, including dyscalculia, and may require additional support with foundational math skills.
A note on the math level: this role covers grade 1 to 7 math only (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percents, and early algebra). You should be comfortable and confident with math at this level. An advanced math background is not needed. What matters most to us is that you genuinely enjoy working with kids and can pair that with solid foundational math skills.
What You'll Do
- Deliver one on one, in person math sessions at our centre using a structured multi-sensory approach (lesson plans provided)
- Build a warm, encouraging, and supportive relationship with each student
- Follow structured lesson plans tailored to each student's needs, covering foundational math skills through early algebra
- Adapt your pace and approach when a student is frustrated, anxious, or stuck
- Help students develop problem solving, reasoning, and confidence, not just correct answers
- Track student progress and give parents clear, concise updates
Who You Are

- Currently enrolled in, or a graduate of, a university or college program in education, child development, psychology, special education, or a related field (Required). Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) or Early Childhood Educator (ECE) designation is a strong asset.
- Experience working with children in an educational, camp, coaching, or tutoring setting for at least 2 years (Required)
- Comfortable and confident with grade 1 to 7 math specifically (Required). An advanced math background is not necessary.
- Experience working with children with ADHD, dyscalculia, or other learning differences (Strongly preferred)
- Clear communicator who can explain concepts simply and check for understanding
- Reliable, organized, punctual, and professional with families
- Willing to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check prior to starting (Required)
