RENTAL MANAGER – HEAVY EQUIPMENT
RTI Equipment Solutions Inc.
Innisfil, Ontario
Full-Time | Competitive Compensation + Benefits
RTI IS GROWING — AND OUR RENTAL TEAM IS GROWING WITH IT
Due to continued growth in our heavy equipment rental business, RTI Equipment Solutions Inc. is adding an additional Rental Manager to our team.
This is a newly added position created to provide additional support and capacity as RTI continues to grow.
We are investing heavily in our rental fleet, our people and our ability to support customers throughout Ontario. With that growth comes the need for another experienced, organized and customer-focused individual who understands that a successful rental operation requires much more than simply putting equipment on rent.
We need someone who understands equipment, customers, utilization, availability, logistics, rates, contracts, service coordination and follow-through.
Most importantly, we need someone who understands urgency.
When a contractor needs a machine, they normally need it now.
THE ROLE
As Rental Manager, you will work closely with our existing Rental Management team, Territory Managers, Service Department, Parts Department, Transportation and senior management to help manage the daily requirements of RTI's growing rental fleet.
This is a hands-on operational and customer-facing role.
The successful candidate will help ensure that the right machine gets to the right customer, at the right time, at the right rate — and comes back properly inspected, documented and ready for the next rental.
You will help manage the rental process from the initial customer request through quotation, dispatch, on-rent management and final return.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Rental Manager will be expected to:
- Respond quickly and professionally to customer rental inquiries
- Prepare rental quotations and rental agreements
- Understand customer applications and recommend the correct equipment
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of fleet availability
- Coordinate closely with Territory Managers on rental opportunities
- Work with Service to ensure equipment is rental-ready
- Coordinate equipment deliveries and pickups with Transportation
- Monitor equipment currently on rent and upcoming off-rent dates
- Follow up on outstanding quotations and rental opportunities
- Assist in managing rental rates and protecting appropriate rental margins
- Identify opportunities for weekly, monthly and long-term rentals
- Identify potential Rental Purchase Option opportunities
- Help maximize fleet utilization and minimize unnecessary idle time
- Maintain accurate customer, equipment and rental information
- Review incoming equipment inspections and condition reports
- Ensure rental damages are properly documented and communicated
- Assist with customer questions regarding contracts, billing, damages and equipment
- Maintain strong communication between Rental, Sales, Service, Parts and Transportation
- Develop strong relationships with RTI customers
- Support the continued growth and professionalism of the RTI Rental Department
UTILIZATION MATTERS
A rental fleet only makes money when it is working.
Our Rental Managers must understand what equipment is:
Available. On Rent. Coming Off Rent. Down for Service. Reserved. Underutilized. Needed by another customer.
We expect our Rental Managers to actively manage the fleet rather than simply wait for the phone to ring.
That means looking ahead.
What is coming back tomorrow?
What is sitting in the yard?
What needs to be serviced?
What equipment can be moved immediately?
Which customer may need it next?
Where are our opportunities?
Good rental management is proactive, not reactive.
CUSTOMER SERVICE & URGENCY
The construction equipment rental business moves quickly.
Customers are dealing with projects, deadlines, crews, weather, breakdowns and changing site conditions.
Our Rental Manager must be someone who understands that speed matters — but accuracy matters just as much.
We expect our customers to receive prompt answers.
If we have the equipment, let's get them a quote and get it working.
If we don't have exactly what they requested, let's find another RTI solution.
If there is a problem, let's communicate it quickly and work together to solve it.
At RTI, we don't want customers chasing us for answers.
KNOW THE EQUIPMENT
Heavy equipment experience is strongly preferred.
Our rental fleet includes equipment and attachments used throughout heavy construction, infrastructure, demolition, remediation, earthworks, roadbuilding and municipal applications.
Experience with equipment such as the following would be an asset:
- Excavators
- Wheel loaders
- Dozers
- Articulated rock trucks
- Compact equipment
- Rollers and compaction equipment
- Hydraulic breakers
- Demolition attachments
- Specialized excavator attachments
- Construction equipment accessories
You don't need to be a mechanic.
But you absolutely need to understand heavy equipment and be willing to learn.
RENTAL INSPECTIONS & EQUIPMENT CONDITION
Pictures alone are not an inspection.
Our Rental Manager must understand the importance of properly documenting equipment condition before and after every rental.
Rental equipment represents a significant investment by RTI, and protecting that investment is everyone's responsibility.
The Rental Manager will work with our operational and service teams to ensure that equipment condition, damage, hours, attachments and other important information are properly documented.
We want to be fair to our customers while protecting RTI's equipment.
TEAMWORK
Rental touches almost every department within RTI.
For that reason, this person must communicate exceptionally well.
You will work closely with:
Territory Managers to support customer opportunities.
Service to understand machine readiness and repair requirements.
Parts when equipment requires components or attachments.
Transportation to coordinate deliveries and pickups.
Accounting to ensure rental information and documentation are accurate.
Management to review utilization, fleet requirements, rates and opportunities.
Nobody succeeds in Rental by working alone.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

SYSTEMS & DISCIPLINE
RTI believes strongly in:
Plan your work. Work your plan.
The successful candidate must be comfortable using RTI's rental management, CRM and business systems.
Accurate information is mandatory.
Rental contracts, customer information, equipment status, quotations, notes, follow-ups and other required information must be maintained properly.
We are growing, and we want to grow with better systems and stronger disciplines — not more confusion.
