Brief Job Description
The position of Production Manager will oversee all daily production operations of the processing plant ensuring compliance with guidelines, policies, and procedures are met. The incumbent will develop and adhere to defined processes that will maximize stewardship, team development, safety, quality, yields and productivity. As manager in the organization, the role must encourage employee follow-ship and be an example of the culture that defines Donald’s Fine Foods. Our customers are at the core of all we do, and this incumbent must exhibit a propensity to meet customers’ expectations without compromising safety, quality, compliance requirements, and unnecessary waste.
Critical Objectives
- Ensure safety of all personnel in facility.
- Quality control and food safety program compliance.

Responsibilities
Leadership
- Lead in a manner that exemplifies honest, integrity, quality, and trust.
- Provide leadership by instilling team goals and objectives.
- Oversee production supervisors to ensure they meet their operational goals.
- Ensure discipline of unionized staff are maintained and delivered.
- Maintain positive employee-relations (Employee reviews done timely and constructive).
- Promote a team atmosphere and provide on-going communication with employees.
- Guide team towards achieving zero lost time and medical aid incidents.
Production Planning
- Plans manpower weekly requirements in order to meet customer demands.
- Maintains overall production plan in order to meet customer demands and reduce unnecessary changeovers.
- Liaison with human resources to ensure appropriate staffing levels in facility.
- Liaison between sales and the production staff to ensure sales requirements are met.
Customer
- Provide necessary feedback to production team to ensure customer satisfaction by shipping to appropriate specifications.
- Maintain and update product specifications in conjunction with sales and customer requests.
- Participate in product development and innovation.
- Participate in line development and engineering.
- Integrate of third party volume into facility.
Operational Results
- Manage labour cost to budget targets.
- Manage product yields without compromising quality.
- Lead team and develop a succession plan for operations .
- Facilitate achievement of Company objectives in terms of product quality, efficiency targets and customer service.
- Responsible for ordering and approving all employee supplies including laundry.
Compliance
- Enforces HACCP and food safety regulations.
- Provide a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.
- Complies with all WorkSafeBC and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Complies with BRC
- Ensure compliance with company policies.
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Establish 5S facility.
- Execute additional duties as assigned.
Accountabilities
- Monthly and Year-end profit and loss statements.
- Yield PONC.
- Customer Complaints and Claims.
- Customer Service Level/Fill Rates.
- Cost/Kg (Service Fee).
- CFIA/HACCP audits HACCP/CFIA Audits.
- Employee retention/ Absenteeism.
- Employee safety and health and welfare.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education.
- Examples of adding value as both an individual contributor and active team member.
- 5+ years’ experience in meat processing industry.
- Computer proficiency (MS Office).
- Ability to build rapport quickly.
- Effective communication and demonstrated team development skills and employee follow-ship.
- Become familiar with new trends and automation technologies in the meat industry.
