Quality Control Inspector (CWB Level II)
Location: Fort McMurray, AB
Duration: 3-4 Weeks (Short-term contract)

Schedule: 6 and 1 | 12 Hours/Day
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Inspector to join our team for a short-term project starting August 18th, with the potential to transition into a recurring or long-term position based on performance and upcoming project demand. In this position, you will be responsible for directing and performing day-to-day welding inspection activities for multiple welding scopes. The ideal candidate will have a good technical understanding of metallurgy and NDE for in-service welding.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspection & Testing: Perform visual inspections of run pipe, fittings, and welds. Witness pressure testing, welding activities, and Hot Tapping. Perform dimensional checks to ensure compliance with approved drawings.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure only qualified welding procedure specifications (WPS) are used. Review Material Test Reports (MTRs) and mill certificates. Manage Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and ensure all signatures/hold points are satisfied.
- NDE Coordination: Request and review NDE testing. Verify technician certifications and ensure report accuracy.
- Project Leadership: Able to schedule day-to-day quality activities. Work with other trades and subcontractors to complete projects efficiently.
- Project Turnover: Diligently prepare, compile, and audit project Turnover packages for client submission. Populate documentation such as Weld mapping, NDE requests, and As-Builts.
- Safety: Participate in Job Hazard Assessments (JHA) and strictly adhere to all Company and customer safety requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years of industry experience with at least 5 years in a dedicated QC/Welding Inspection role or similar.
- Certification: CWB Level II Inspector (Required).
- Technical Knowledge: Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, standards, and specifications.
- Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access), PDF editing.
Preferred Skills & Assets
- Code Endorsements: ASME B31.3, CSA Z662, and ASME Section VIII & IX.
- Industry Experience: Plant/Facility experience, specifically with turnover packages.
- Specialized Knowledge: Experience with in-service welding and/or hot tapping is a significant asset.
- Soft Skills: Strong sense of urgency, ability to work autonomously, and excellent organizational communication skills.

- This is a field role in Fort McMurray.
- Candidates must provide their own computer with Microsoft Office and a PDF editing program.
