The Nunavut Housing Corporation is an agency of the Government of Nunavut which serves the housing needs of one of the fastest growing and youngest populations in Canada. NHC’s mandate is to create, co-ordinate, and administer housing programs in order to provide fair access to a range of affordable housing options to families and individuals in Nunavut. NHC has recently launched The Nunavut 3000 Strategy, (www.igluliuqatigiingniq.ca) which is a collaboration between the government and its partners to deliver 3,000 new units across the housing continuum by 2030.
Reporting to the Corporate Comptroller, the Manager, Financial Reporting and Advisory Services, plays a key role in the validity, integrity, and accuracy of the financial statements of the Nunavut Housing Corporation and other specific and interim financial reports. The Manager is responsible for leading the preparation and coordination of annual Nunavut Housing Corporation financial audit performed by the Auditor General of Canada's office (OAG) along with the follow-up of recommendations arising from the annual audit report. This includes oversight of financial reporting of 25 Local Housing Authorities across Nunavut.
Key responsibilities of the successful candidate will also include:
Supervision of direct report(s) and providing training and coaching to departmental staff;
Managing the preparation of interim, special and specific financial reports for 3rd party funding;
Providing advisory services and managing special projects.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through completion of a recognized Canadian accounting designation CPA (CGA, CMA or CA). An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce or Economics with a minimum of three (3) years related experience in leading and/or participating in the year-end financial reporting process, financial management information systems, liaising with external and internal auditors, specifically from the OAG including 1 year of progressive managerial experience.

Compensation & benefits: This position is open until filled and current indeterminate, it offers a salary range of $117,746.00 to $133,647.00 per year (for 37.5 hours/week), plus a Northern Allowance of $16,008 per annum. Note: Subsidized staff housing is available.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
