Ketler Farms is a joint venture operation with Nature Fresh Farms Inc. It is a 30-acre state-of-the art Greenhouse facility that is committed to quality vegetable production.
We are currently seeking an applicant to join our team and fill a full-time Greenhouse Research and Quality Inspector position at our operations located in Staples, ON.
Job Details
The Greenhouse Research and Quality Inspector role works in the Greenhouse to check and tag cucumbers to follow-up and determine the quality of fruit. The Greenhouse Research and Quality Inspector is also responsible for the oversight, data collection, processing and analysis of research and development trials. Reporting to the Head Grower, the Greenhouse Research and Quality Inspector plays a vital role in the greenhouse environment to ensure proper quality of plants, fruits, and accuracy of information regarding research and development trials.
Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Inspect the quality of bins going from the greenhouse to the warehouse.
· Check the quality of the crop work and crop maintenance in the greenhouse, such as: de-leafing, suckering, clipping, ensuring no broken plants, etc.
· Ensure that crop procedures are being followed correctly.
· Assess product specifications and test them with customer requirements.
· Verify and record specifications, such as fruit size, weight, width, length, color, and any imperfections.
· Ensure product compliance within legal and quality standards.
· Participate in research and development projects, collect data, and provide oversight of trials.
· Prepare reports, discuss progress and requirements with the greenhouse Growers and Management Team.
· Complete weekly colour coded tagging necessary for tracking fruit growth.
· Constant communication between greenhouse and warehouse, supporting supervisors to improve quality and train new employees.
· Work in compliance of Good Manufacturing Practices, Health and Safety, Food Safety, HACCP, and all company policies and procedures.
· Any other duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements:
· Experience in Quality Control is an asset.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other software programs.
· Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
· Time management skills: Ability to work in a fast environment by multitasking and prioritizing work while being attentive to details and quality.
· Must be able to distinguish colours.
· Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Health and Safety, Food Safety, HACCP principles.
· Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle are required.
Working Requirements and Conditions:
· Working with minimal supervision for most of the day, however, must be able to work well with employees at all levels.
· Climates can vary from hot, wet, humid, or cold at any time. There will be exposure to the elements in the Greenhouse.
· Available to work 6 days a week, after hours may be required at times. Flexibility with work schedule is required. Average 40-60 hours per week.
· This is an active role; Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time; bending, crouching, kneeling.Possibility of working at heights or lifting up-to 25lbs.
· Utilizes a scissor cart throughout the day.
