Welcome to the Nanoose Bay Cafe, a true west coast hospitality experience with an ocean view! We are a brand new restaurant and excited to be in one of the most spectacular restaurant locations on Vancouver Island. We are an upscale casual restaurant that focuses on seafood with a hint of Asian influence. Our culinary team offers the highest quality ingredients with thoughtfully created menu items which guests keep coming back for!
The Role:
- The individuals major tasks are to assist in preparation of menu items, to cook dishes and to ensure that the food quality is acceptable to the restaurant's standard for services.
- The individual is to focus on plating standards and work efficiently, maintaining a clean work station
- The Line cook reports to the 1st Cook, Chef De Partie, Sous chefs and Chef de Cuisine Subordinate personnel
What You’ll do:
- The individual is responsible for food preparation, food service and cleaning procedures for the section assigned to them
- The individual is responsible for maintenance and cleaning respective sections
- The individual maintains the high standards of food presentation and quality
- The individual assures that all the food items prepared and served according to health code standards and practices
- The individual assists in training coworkers to restaurant standards
- The individual is aware of all safety and emergency procedures
- Manage mise en place for service
- Assist with food preparation if possible
- Work service to restaurant standards
- Keep the line and work area clean, tidy and organised
- Assist in the closing of the Kitchen and all cleaning duties required
- Assist the dishwasher if needed
- Communicate with the manager on duty regarding par levels and prep regarding station
- Other duties as assigned
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Possesses a warm and welcoming personality, is friendly and outgoing, demonstrating a positive attitude and energy at all times
- 1+ year of high-volume kitchen experience an asset
- Strong organization skills, able to work calmly and effectively under pressure
- Set an example for a respectful, collaborative team while demonstrating appropriate working behaviors

Salary: $18.00-$25.00 per hour
