As an Auto Body Technician, you will be responsible for repairing and refinishing damaged vehicles, ensuring high-quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.

The job of an automotive body technician is to repair and restore the exterior and structural parts of vehicles that have been damaged in an accident. Their key responsibilities include:
- Assessing damage: Inspecting vehicles to determine the extent of damage and necessary repairs.
- Body repairs: Removing or repairing damaged panels, such as doors, fenders, and bumpers.
- Frame straightening: Using specialized equipment to realign vehicle frames and chassis if necessary.
- Dent and scratch removal: Repairing minor damage such as dents, dings, and scratches.
- Being able to sand and prep the surface in order to pass the repair to the next prep department.
- Welding: Using welding techniques to fix or replace damaged parts.
- Replacing parts: Installing new body components like quarter-panels, doors headlights, and mirrors.
- Safety checks: Ensuring all repairs meet safety standards and regulations.
The role requires attention to detail, proficiency with tools and equipment, and the ability to follow industry safety standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Panel and Frame Repair: Removing, repairing, or replacing damaged body panels and frames using specialized tools and equipment.
- Dent and Scratch Repair: Fixing minor dents, dings, and scratches by sanding, filling, and smoothing surfaces.
- Frame Straightening: Using hydraulic machines and alignment systems to restore the vehicle’s frame to its original specifications.
- Welding and Metal Work: Welding metal parts and frames, and reshaping or fabricating new body panels as needed.
- Part Replacement: Replacing damaged parts such as bumpers, headlights, and mirrors.
Qualifications and skills needed:
- Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent. Training or certification in auto body repair, such as from a trade school or community college.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in bodywork tools and equipment (e.g., hammers, dollies, welders, sanders). Knowledge of auto body repair techniques such as dent removal, panel replacement, and frame straightening.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Understanding of vehicle structures, parts, and systems.o Ability to interpret repair manuals and manufacturer specifications.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in repairs, ensuring cosmetic and structural accuracy.o Focus on quality and safety standards.
- Physical Strength and Stamina: Ability to lift heavy parts and stand or bend for extended periods.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to assess damage and determine the most efficient repair methods.
- Customer Service Skills: Communicating repair plans and estimates with the production manager.

Position: Full-Time Auto Body Technician
Work Schedule:
- Days: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM (with possible breaks as per company policy)
Location:
- Gatineau, Quebec, (7 minutes from downtown Ottawa).
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in auto body repair.
- Language: Fluency in either English or French.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assess and repair vehicle damage (dents, scratches, panels, frames).
- Perform welding, sanding, and replacement of parts.
- Ensure repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Collaborate with other technicians and support staff to complete repairs.
Qualifications:
- Certification or diploma in auto body repair (I-CAR, or equivalent not mandatory but preferred)
. Skilled in using bodywork tools and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet repair deadlines.
- Proficiency in both French and English is required.
