Are you a SMOOTH OPERATOR with experience operating:
- Excavators (30 ton)?
- Skid Steers?
- Dozers (including fine grading work)?
- Packers?
- Rubber Tire Backhoe/Front End Loader?
If you are able to operate these machines and have thorough knowledge of construction excavation and civil earthwork practices, the team at Rite-X would like to hear from you.
The ideal candidate MUST be able to operate all of the above machines flawlessly, have all necessary certifications, be flexible to commute to various areas of the GTA and surrounding areas, and be able to display a minimum of three (3) years experience in their work history of working on active construction projects.
Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Operate (30 ton) excavators to excavate materials, dig trenches, foundations, and other earth moving tasks as directed.
- Fine grade with a dozer.
- Transport materials, including dirt, sand, and debris to designated locations.
- Understand, follow and maintain all safety protocols (provincial, municipal, company, and client required).
- Work with all members of the construction team to ensure alignment with project plans and specifications.
- Conduct documented inspections on all machinery prior to use.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs as required (within capabilities).
- Maintain communication with members of the construction team and other equipment operators.
- (Physically) Assist with loading and unloading materials as required.
- Assist with labour duties as required (i.e. laying pipe, hand digging around utilities, spotting for other operators, traffic control, etc.).
- Keep records of operations hours and machinery performance/maintenance.
Required Competencies and Attributes:
- A minimum of three (3) years experience operating the above noted machinery in an active construction environment.
- Operators must be able to work around underground utilities diligently.
- Hold a valid operator’s license or applicable machinery certification.
- Able to read and interpret construction plans, site layouts, and locates.
- Strong knowledge of excavation techniques, including digging, trenching, and grading.
- Ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance on excavators and construction machinery.
- Physical stamina to operate machinery for extended periods and to handle heavy workloads.
- Be able to pass any client required security screenings and background checks.
- Must have a valid G drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle to travel to various construction sites.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience with GPS and other technology used in excavation.
- Good communication skills, written and oral.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed on construction sites, which may involved exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- May require lifting and physically demanding tasks.
Work Location: GTA and surrounding areas, with the possibility of remote/out of town work.
