The Real Estate Council of British Columbia protects the public interest by enforcing the licensing and licensee conduct requirements of the Real Estate Services Act. We license individuals and brokerages engaged in real estate sales, rental and strata property management, set entry qualifications, investigate complaints against licensees and impose disciplinary sanctions under the Act.

We are responsible for ensuring that the interests of consumers who use the services of real estate licensees are adequately protected against wrongful actions by real estate professionals. We encourage public confidence by impartially setting and enforcing standards of conduct, education, competency and licensing for real estate professionals.

We are accountable to government, and we advise government on real estate industry issues.

As a key member of the audit team, the Auditor/Investigator is responsible for conducting trust account and other financial and non-financial audits on licensed brokerages to ensure compliance with the Real Estate Services Act and related legislation.

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated professional with a very high level of integrity and willingness to apply their background in audit to an organization who values transparency, accountability and dedication to public protection.

They will enjoy working in a systematic and disciplined manner while demonstrating discretion and flexibility in their approach as circumstances warrant. Formally prepared with a degree and professional accounting designation with membership or eligibility to obtain membership with the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia.

3+ years of experience in an audit environment, with preference for internal audit and/or in a regulatory or legal setting
Formally prepared with a degree and professional accounting designation with membership or eligibility to obtain membership with the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia
Excellent communication skills and proof-reading skills
Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Demonstrated high level of initiative, time management and organizational ability
Ability to work both independently and as a team member
A strong commitment to quality service
