Finance Manager (Winnipeg)
Tapper Cuddy LLP is a full-service law firm (based in Winnipeg, Manitoba) that helps individuals and business owners get the legal support they need and results they’re looking for in litigation, business law, family law and 20 other areas of practice. In order to continue to achieve a high level of service, we are looking to add to a Finance Manager to our team.
Role:
As the Finance Manager you will be responsible for supervising the Firm’s financial related activities and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and the operating requirements of The Law Society of Manitoba. The successful candidate excels at collaborating within a team to achieve results, is a strong communicator and is highly skilled in accounting procedures. This role has the potential to evolve with the growth of the Firm. Reporting to the Management Committee responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supervise the daily operations of the accounting department. The successful candidate will perform daily accounting functions and will have an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the firm’s accounting processes
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in financial processes, accounting methods and policies that contribute to the Firm’s overall strategic goals and enhance internal controls and financial reporting consistency, timeliness and reliability
- Reconcile all bank accounts and control accounts to subledgers and analyze financial results on a monthly, quarterly and/or annual basis
- Produce various periodic and ad hoc statements and reports
- Participate in budget preparation and analysis
- Participate in interactions with, and support of the year end work the firm’s auditors
Qualifications and Skills:
- Completed CPA designation and/or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. A combination of education and experience may be considered and those who are working towards their designation are encouraged to apply
- Experience working in professional office in an accounting/finance role
- Strong attention to detail, with a high level of organization
- Ability to prioritize and consistently meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written and in-person)
- Strong IT skills – including the Microsoft Suite of products, as well as the ability to learn
The Firm offers a generous total compensation package including: 100% firm-paid group health, dental and LTD benefits, an optional RSP plan with a firm contribution after 1 year of service, paid annual leave and subsidized transportation options.
Salary is dependent on the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications and is expected to be in the range of $70,000 - $100,000/year
