TRC Solar is looking for a Construction Site Supervisor to oversee commercial rooftop solar installation projects across the Greater Toronto Area. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in construction or solar installation, is comfortable working at heights, and can lead crews safely and efficiently on active job sites.
This role involves supervising rooftop solar installations, coordinating daily site activities, managing crews, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and ensuring work is completed safely, properly, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily rooftop solar installation activities on commercial and industrial sites.
- Coordinate crews installing solar panels, racking systems, ballast systems, wiring pathways, and related equipment.
- Ensure workers follow proper working at heights procedures and site safety requirements.
- Assist with planning daily work, scheduling crew tasks, and tracking project progress.
- Coordinate material staging, deliveries, equipment use, and rooftop logistics.
- Work closely with project managers, electricians, engineers, roofers, and subcontractors.
- Ensure racking, ballast placement, solar panel installation, and wiring routes are completed according to drawings and site instructions.
- Maintain good housekeeping and ensure the site is kept clean, organized, and safe.
- Identify site issues, delays, missing materials, safety concerns, or drawing conflicts and report them promptly.
- Help enforce electrical safety practices around AC/DC wiring, inverters, combiner boxes, conduits, and live electrical areas.
- Operate or coordinate the use of boom lifts, scissor lifts, telehandlers, and other site equipment where properly trained.
- Support inspections, commissioning preparation, and project closeout activities.
Requirements
- Experience supervising or working on construction sites, preferably rooftop solar, electrical, roofing, or commercial construction.
- Comfortable working on commercial rooftops and at heights.
- Valid Working at Heights training/certification.
- Familiarity with solar panels, racking systems, ballast systems, AC/DC wiring, inverters, and basic solar installation practices.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety and electrical safety practices.
- Ability to read basic drawings, site plans, layouts, and installation instructions.
- Good planning, scheduling, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well with installation crews.
- Ability to keep crews productive while maintaining a safe work environment.
- Able to maintain a clean and organized job site.
- Reliable transportation to job sites across the GTA.
Assets
- Experience operating boom lifts, scissor lifts, or telehandlers.
- Equipment operator certifications/tickets.
- Solar PV installation experience.
- Roofing or flat-roof construction experience.
- Electrical background or experience working with electricians.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- WHMIS certification.
- Supervisor health and safety training.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, safety-focused, and comfortable leading crews on commercial rooftops. They should be able to plan the work, communicate clearly, solve site problems, and keep the project moving while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- Day shift
- Overtime and weekend work may be required depending on project schedule and weather conditions.
Work Location
Projects are located throughout South Western Ontario. Candidates must be able to travel between job sites as required.
