We are currently seeking a DZ License Driver to join our team in our Thunder Bay Terminal.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for completing all types of dock work warehouse work at the Sudbury terminal. Responsibilities include loading and unloading of trailers and paperwork associated with the freight.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Provide friendly and courteous service to all customers
· Perform efficient local pickups and deliveries in the service area
· Safely operate and perform routine checks of all vehicles used
· Complete all necessary shipping documents to ensure proper freight handling
· Cooperate with all customers to maintain a high level of customer service
· Climb in and out of van, load and unload freight and drive
· Perform other duties as required to support City Dispatch and fellow drivers
Supports all Safety & Health initiatives for the safety of all drivers, customers and other terminal employees by following all safety policies and procedures including the incident reporting system.
Qualification requirements
High School diploma with minimum of two years’ experience working in a fast paced and deadline driven logistics environment, specifically with freight, shipping and receiving responsibilities. Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Proven demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision all the while being a team player. Must have experience working with freight moving equipment. Must have a DZ license.
Physical Requirements
Physical demands of Dock position are above average. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs from shoulders to floor, bend and twist consistently, standing and walking all day. Need to have a good sense of balance with hand and foot coordination with ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights. Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season. Must be able to operate small equipment such as power jack, fork lift and hand dolly equipment. Personal protective equipment must be worn.
