Engineering Manager

Manage the engineering team and processes on the day-to-day engineering operations. You’ll interface with senior level management. The Engineering Manager will work closely with the sales team, manufacturing team and key customers on new product concepts and features.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages activities of engineering or technical personnel involved in designing, fabricating, modifying or testing products
  • Implement and monitor engineering strategy performance metrics
  • Drive innovation end to end by managing all stakeholder engagement
  • Oversee the prototyping and testing of new designs, including the interpretation of test results
  • Oversee the transition from design into production, including any necessary testing and training required for implementing new or changed designs
  • Provide technical production support from manufacturing process, equipment and bill of materials quality
  • Represent AIRIA’s interest regarding industry standards and industry regulatory agencies
  • Establish and maintain product design standards to conform to product specifications and certifications
  • Directs and participates in engineering impacted cost reduction efforts
  • Oversee the coordination and execution of the Engineering Change Proces
  • Ensure ISO requirements are met (development to audit
  • Manage test lab and processes
  • Provide training and technical tools and process for sales channel
  • Ensure Product catalog and associated marketing materials accurate
  • Assure that design engineering, engineering laboratory, model shop/prototyping, and documentation activities meet corporate strategic objectives
  • Support Sales channel customer training initiatives and trade shows
  • Oversee development of customer and sales support training tools
  • Provide technical escalation point for technical support to sales teams (pre/post sales
  • Maintain accurate and complete engineering records to provide timely information to the organization. Implement a favorable work atmosphere by cross training personnel to meet their personnel goals
  • Implementing and ensuring rigor process and procedure
  • Assure that personnel remain qualified to provide the expertise essential to effective operations and establish effective working relationships with manufacturing personnel
  • Conduct Performance reviews and develop goals and development plans for new and existing employees

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) is required
  • Direct Management experience as technical leader
  • Demonstrated strategic and business acumen and communications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to all levels of the organization, specifically in a manufacturing/production environment
  • Superior analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to quickly grasp and interpret information pertinent to the growth of the organization
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize both daily issues and strategize longer-term projects
  • Advanced root cause analysis experience
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills required. Effectively able to communicate and influence the sales/customer and/or engineering communities.
  • Ability to identify opportunities/threats and develop and execute appropriate strategic and tactical business solutions
  • Project management skills are required
  • Knowledgeable in HVAC technology would be an asset
  • This position requires occasional travel to customer and partner sites in North America (10-20%)
