Scope of the position
The Backshop Attendant supports golf operations by ensuring the efficient management of golf carts, equipment, and the backshop area. This role involves assisting members and guests, maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of carts and equipment, and organizing the driving range. The backshop Attendant will contribute to a seamless and enjoyable experience for all members and guests by providing exceptional customer service, adhering to safety protocols, and collaborating with the golf operations team to ensure smooth daily operations.
Duties and responsibilities
Customer Service Support:
- Provide friendly, professional, and timely service to members and guests, ensuring a positive experience at the Club and the golf course.
- Assist with the organization and loading/unloading of golf bags, carts, and equipment for players.
- Answer inquiries and assist members/guests with general information about the golf course and club facilities.
Golf Cart Management:
- Prepare and maintain golf carts for use, ensuring they are clean, fully charged, and operational
- Assist in organizing and managing the golf cart fleet, ensuring carts are ready for use by players.
- Monitor and report any malfunctions or issues with the equipment.
Equipment and Facility Maintenance:
- Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the backshop, ensuring that golf equipment, carts, and other supplies are properly stored.
- Organize, store, and retrieve players' bags and equipment efficiently to ensure smooth operations at the golf course.
- Keep track of golf bags, clubs, and accessories, ensuring they are securely stored and ready for use.
- Help with minor repairs and maintenance of golf equipment, including cleaning clubs and checking for wear and tear.
- Ensure all equipment is in safe working condition, reporting any damaged items to the supervisor.
Range Maintenance:
- Keep the driving range clean and organized by regularly collecting balls and maintaining the tee area.
- Refill and arrange ball dispensers for easy access by players.
Health and Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper handling of equipment, maintaining a hazard-free work environment, and following health and safety guidelines always.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor/Manager
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
· Valid driver’s license (required)
· Availability to work morning shifts (required)
· Availability Monday-Friday (required)
· Prior experience in customer service or golf operations role is preferred but not required.
· Knowledge of golf equipment, carts, and operations is an advantage.
· Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on providing outstanding customer service.
· Physical ability to lift and carry golf bags and other equipment (up to 50 lbs).
· Attention to detail and the ability to maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
· Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to assist others.
· Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
Working conditions
The Backshop Attendant role involves a combination of indoor and outdoor tasks, with significant physical activity and exposure to various weather conditions. Employees will spend time outdoors preparing and maintaining golf carts and equipment, as well as assisting golfers, which may involve prolonged periods of standing, walking, and lifting heavy items. In addition to outdoor work, there will be office-based tasks, including organizing inventory, tracking equipment, and handling customer service inquiries. This requires employees to use standard equipment such as computers, phones, and printers. While performing their duties, employees may encounter moderate noise levels and occasional distractions. The work environment can be fast paced, with occasional pressure from multiple demands and deadlines. Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and attention to health and safety protocols are essential to ensure the well-being of both the employee and the golfers, as well as a safe and efficient workplace.
