CASUAL SUPPORT WORKERS
Mikaaming Healing Lodge is looking for individuals who are interested in supporting
individuals and families who are in the healing/treatment program at Mikaaming Healing
Lodge. Candidates are expected to exercise professional initiative, good judgement, and
interact with participants on a positive basis. He/she/they must also demonstrate maturity,
stability, reliability, and the ability to act independently and function as part of a team.
Qualifications:
Grade 12 or equivalent - prefer with Family Support Certificate, Counselling certificate
or Addictions related training; Life Skills Certificate; or combination of education and
experience in a related field.
Experience in working with children/youth and families and able to create and deliver
appropriate child/youth and family activities
Must be able to function independently, be flexible and adapt quickly to change.
Proven ability to work in crisis and be able to apply policy and procedures as they
relate.
Must be able to demonstrate how you lead a positive & healthy lifestyle (ie. references
and/or cover letter).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Competent in using computer programs (Microsoft Word, etc.)
Knowledge of Indigenous culture and heritage
Must have excellent interpersonal skills e.g. problem solving, solution focused, conflict
resolution.
Must be available to work evenings, weekends, overnights.
Must have current First Aid & CPR.
Valid Class 5 driver’s license and willing to obtain Class 4 driver’s license.
Provide current Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry Checks
