Job Description – Site Superintendent
Scope: To coordinate the project subcontractors, monitor project schedule, and provide on site administrative duties for the life cycle of a building construction project. The Site Superintendent works closely with the Project Manager, Project Coordinator, Suppliers, and Subcontractors.
Reports to: This role reports directly to the Project Manager.
Tasks, Activities, Requirements: The below list is a guideline of the duties that may be required throughout a project but are not limited to:
1. Obtain pertinent project details including specifications, drawings, and project schedules to accurately understand the proposed scope of the work to be proactive in identifying potential issues/conflicts to avoid delays on the projects.
2. Project scheduling on deliveries and construction start-ups including but not limited to having equipment rented, site trailers, port-a-potties, job signs, and other items in place before crews arrive on site.
3. Arrange for temporary power if required.
4. Ensure all permits are in place.
5. Schedule and coordinate sub-trades.
6. Communicate with sub-trades, foremen, and other workers when on site.
7. Attend job site full time when required, or travel to job sites regularly to review progress if full time supervision is not required.
8. Schedule testing and inspections as required.
9. Leads the overall site supervision of the construction project and acts as the liaison between the client and construction team to ensure all details and expectations are clearly understood and delivered.
10. Assist in the coordination of shop drawing submittals with the Project Manager and Project Coordinator and help organize and obtain all close out documents.
11. In conjunction with the Project Manager and Project Coordinator, updates the project schedule to reflect the on-going progress of the project(s) they have been assigned.
12. Proficiency with computer, smart phone and associated software is key, and must monitor, organize, and respond to emails as required to keep projects running smoothly.
13. Prepares the Site Safety Plan and ensures all personnel on site are adhering to the safety program.
14. Completes daily and weekly reporting which includes overall construction progress, on site trade presence, weather conditions/impacts, and design delays.
15. Monitors all change orders, site instructions, RFI’s, and facilitates the revised scope of work in a timely manner. Assist with change order pricing as required.
16. Working with the Project Manager, completes the ongoing and final project inspections, and ensures that all deficiencies are completed in a timely manner.
17. Develop a professional working relationship with all clients, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and suppliers, and promote a partnership type of business strategy.
18. Attend project site meetings with the owner, subcontractor, and consultant as needed.
19. Work closely with management and employees to ensure customer satisfaction is being maintained.
Safety Responsibilities:
- To read, understand, know, and apply company health and safety policies, safe work practices, procedures, rules, and legislated OH&S requirements.
- To ensure that all workers are educated to work in a safe manner and that they use protective devices and procedures required by the company and by legislation to protect their health and safety.
- To warn all workers of any potential or actual dangers and to advise them on how to isolate, prevent, or remove such dangers.
- To arrange for medical treatments as required, in case of injury or illness including transportation to a doctor or hospital, as necessary.
- To report all incidents immediately, to investigate all accidents fully, and to advise management on how to prevent similar incidents in the future.
- To carry out regular inspections of the workplace (processes, equipment, vehicles, etc.) to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
- To take every reasonable precaution to protect the safety of other workers and themselves.
- Maintain current Leadership in Safety Excellence (LSE) training.
- Maintain current Standard First Aid, Ground Disturbance, Fall Arrest tickets among other safety training as directed by a company safety officer.
- To conduct site orientation for all site attendees as needed.

Experience:
- construction: 10 years (preferred)
- Construction Superintendents: 5 years (preferred)
