Our busy personal injury firm requires an experienced legal assistant to join our dedicated and friendly team to assist an intermediate associate in a very busy, and growing personal injury practice. Some of the job duties include:
- Maintaining lawyer’s calendar, including scheduling new client meetings, examinations for discovery, mediations, pre-trials and trials, preparation meetings, conference calls and assessments for clients
- All tasks associated with the various calendar entries including booking of services, arranging virtual set ups, confirming attendances, providing relevant materials
- General correspondence with respect to client productions and calendar entries
- Preparation and service of documents, including Affidavit of Documents and Schedule "A" productions
- Assembling and service of Records/Briefs, including motions, mediation, medical, pre-trial, and productions
- Communication with clients
- Maintenance and organization of client files
- Posting of invoices and requisitioning of cheques
Skills
- Experience as a Tort Assistant/Clerk, or in a similar role
- Knowledge of tort and the Rules of Civil Procedure
- Experience with the JSO Portal and Caselines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Excellent multi-tasking, proof-reading and organizational abilities
- Excellent management skills to coordinate tasks and deadlines
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent work ethics and a strong attention to detail is a must
- Strong proofreading skills to ensure clarity and correctness of documents
- Good people skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and/or within a team environment
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities
- Experience in a personal injury firm is a plus
- Familiarity with Primafact is advantageous
The person we are looking for will be highly motivated, efficient, reliable, show initiative, have excellent multi-tasking, organizational and communication skills, and be able to work in a fast paced environment.
The appropriate candidate must be able to work independently, have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Primafact, PC Law, Google, Secure Docs, One Drive (and other online document services), as well as experience with the JSO Portal and Case Center (previously Caselines)
