The Dietitian will report to the operations manager for FFCO, and is responsible for dietary, food safety, marketing and sustainability functions, activities and programs. The Dietitian provides support to Manager’s and Operators in all facets of dietetics, food safety, sustainability and marketing by advising and executing programs, changes and training.

Job Duties:
Provides support and direction to Manager’s and Operators in all facets listed in job summary.
Counsel individuals and groups on basic rules of good nutrition, healthy eating habits, and nutrition monitoring to improve their quality of life in the university community.
Continuously update nutrition/sustainability knowledge through current research and education.
Works with Managers & Chefs to assist in the development of various menus (seasonal menus, nutritionally adequate, focus on vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and allergies)
Works with catering department in relation to allergies and special dietary requirements
Inputs and updates menus using online software
Provides nutrition promotion through booths, LCD screens, dining hall, articles, websites and expos
Executes nutrition initiatives & participates in wellness programs on campus
Participates on University Health & Wellness Committee
Performs food safety audits and follow ups
Provides food safety training to FLA
Monitor food service operations to ensure conformance to nutritional safety, sanitation & quality standards
Supervise dietetic interns in their administrative rotations
Provides and arranges health related training and in-services
Develop policies for food service or nutritional programs to assist in health promotion and disease control
Plan, conduct, and evaluate dietary, nutritional and epidemiological research
Manages the sustainability program “Farm to Table” in the dining hall
Works with suppliers to source available local & environmentally friendly products
Works with the university community on sustainable initiatives
Participates in fundraising committee planning and executing fundraising events
Chairs environmental committee (Aramark)
Implements marketing promotions (meal plans, gro kit, retail promotions)
Updates social media sites in reference to food related topics
Develops signage for campus (i.e.; pricing, hours, events)
Post Secondary Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics
Successful completion of an internship accredited by Dietitian’s of Canada
Registered with NS Dietetic Association
Certified in Food Safety Training
Experience and interest in Food Service Operations
Effective Communication and strong organizational skills
Exercises a high degree of professionalism in daily duties
Strong leadership skills and self-directed
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization
Willingness to learn
