Material HandlerWe are hiring a Material Handler for one of our clients located in Brampton. Our client specializes in making tools and dies.
Duties
- Maintain a continuous flow of raw materials to press lines ensuring that no interruption to production takes place.
- Handle all materials in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to ABM Health and Safety and Housekeeping policies.
- Always adhere to safe lift truck and crane operation practices, respecting speed restrictions, pedestrian traffic and load integrity.
- Perform and complete forklift and crane inspections prior to the start of each shift. Ensure checklist is accurately completed and submitted.
- Report any defects or unsafe equipment conditions to Supervisor immediately.
- Remove scrap from work centers to the proper designated bin locations.
- Store raw product in the designated locations ensuring that labels remain with and pertain to related materials.
- Assist Press Operators with Die Set Up including clamping of dies, programming dies and sensors, loading coiler & feeding material.
- Organize, prepare and set up raw material and equipment required for safe production of parts as per press schedules.
- Maintain communication with Quality Control and Press Shop personnel as required ensuring a quality product as per part process.
- Complete all necessary paperwork affiliated with daily production.
- Ensure that equipment fluid levels are maintained and that all safety guards are in good functioning order.
- Work with the Press Shop personnel to improve run speeds, reduce set up times, and improve efficiencies and die run success.
- Continuously improve set ups and collect information for the Continuous Improvement Program.
- Meet production schedules.
- Reduce down time.
- Reduce scrap.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment using common sense practice and the standards and principles of the 5S system.
- Adhere to all obligations and requirements under Section 28 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Adhere to all obligations and duties outlined in the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.
- Work in compliance with IATF 16949, 5S, and all other company policies and procedures.
- Attend and participate in all required meetings and ensure the timely communication of information to all other team members.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all company tooling, processes, methods, customer and supplier information and business.
- Keep abreast of, informing management of new technologies and methods.
- Perform other duties as required by Management.
Employment Requirements:
- Complete knowledge of die set ups and trouble shooting set ups.
- Forklift certification.
- Crane licence
- Familiarity with tag out/lock out procedures.
- Sound knowledge of press shop equipment and safe machine operating procedures
- Experience working in a press shop environment.
- Ability to set up dies both independently and within a team.
- Ability to produce stamped metal automotive parts that meet customer specifications
Experience Required: 4-5 years
