Full-Time Retail Sales Associate
Scoop + Laine Collective | Fort St. John, BC
Full-Time | Retail Sales, Inventory, Merchandising + Content
About Scoop + Laine
Scoop + Laine Collective is a locally owned women’s consignment boutique built around great style, thoughtful curation and a genuinely welcoming shopping experience.
Because we’re a consignment boutique, no two days — or even two racks — are exactly the same. New inventory arrives constantly, trends change, displays evolve and there is always something happening behind the scenes to keep the store organized, beautiful and exciting to shop.
We’re looking for a Full-Time Retail Sales Associate who wants to become an important part of that.
This is more than a traditional retail position. You’ll work with customers, inventory, consignment, merchandising, product knowledge, social media and content — and for the right person, there is room to grow into greater responsibility within the business.
The Role
A typical day at Scoop + Laine can take you through many different parts of the business.
You might start the morning processing new inventory, help a customer put together an outfit, reorganize a display, research a brand you haven’t seen before, photograph new arrivals for Instagram, film a quick piece of content, complete a transaction, steam a rack of clothing and help prepare tomorrow’s merchandising.
We’re a small team, so we work collaboratively and everyone contributes.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys that variety and doesn’t need every hour of their day mapped out for them.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for more than someone who enjoys clothes or has worked in retail before.
We’re looking for someone who takes ownership of their work.
You’re the type of person who notices when something needs to be done and takes care of it. You don’t need a manager beside you to stay productive, and you’re comfortable deciding what needs your attention first when several things are happening at once.
You genuinely enjoy working with people. You can start a conversation, make someone feel welcome and offer help without making a customer feel pressured. You understand that great customer service isn’t about following a script — it’s about paying attention to the person in front of you.
You’re dependable, detail-oriented and someone others can trust with responsibility. If you make a mistake, you take ownership of it, learn from it and move forward. You’re receptive to feedback and want to become better at what you do.
You also take pride in your environment. A beautifully merchandised rack, an organized inventory room, an accurate transaction and a customer leaving genuinely happy all matter to you.
You’re also comfortable with the creative side of retail. Social media and content are an important part of how we connect with our customers and showcase what’s happening in-store. You don’t need to be a professional content creator, but you should be willing to learn, contribute ideas and participate in creating engaging content.
Experience in retail, customer service, hospitality or another fast-paced customer-facing environment is an asset, but initiative, reliability, judgment and willingness to learn matter just as much to us.
Product knowledge, brands and our consignment systems can be taught. We’re looking for the right person to teach them to.
