Secondary school diploma
2 years experience in a linen/laundry room
Ability to read and write English and to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to use industrial machines i.e. washer and dryers
Demonstrated knowledge of inventory control
Demonstrated sewing skills (i.e. sewing pants, zippers, hemming, etc.)
Familiarity with windows based computer i.e Microsoft Word
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Knowledgeable with regard to WHIMIS
Demonstrate reliable work habits
Physical ability for lifting and prolonged standing
Experience in a healthcare setting preferred
Evidence of satisfactory attendance record
An employee’s disciplinary record will be reviewed as part of the assessment of qualifications
Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the centre’s core values and helps patients get their life back
Should be aware of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of patients, residents, students, employees, volunteers, physicians and visitors
Ensure that linen carts have correct quota.
Be accountable for all linen.
Wash and sort all personal laundry.
Deliver, pick up and label laundry as required.
Ensure effective utilization of time and resources by closely monitoring in-coming linen and maintaining available stock.
Keep a record of daily requests and returns from client care areas (i.e. extra linen, pillows, etc.).
Distribute and repair uniforms as required.
Work with supervisor to ensure activities meet all Government Regulations and Codes, i.e. Occupational Health & Safety, Fire, WHIMIS, etc.
Perform other duties as assigned.
