Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced, detail-obsessed Principal Experience Architect to elevate and safeguard the quality of our digital products. This is not a hands-on production design role. Instead, this leader will define, enforce, and continuously refine our UX/UI standards to ensure every product release reflects an elite, industry-leading experience.
This individual will serve as the authority on user interface quality and user experience execution. They will partner closely with the Chief Experience Officer and mentor our UX/UI designers, while holding engineering teams accountable to established design standards.
The ideal candidate brings a refined aesthetic sensibility, the confidence to challenge cross-functional teams, and deep experience in the golf and private club industry. Knowledge of our product ecosystem is highly beneficial—and may be required—to ensure continuity, cohesion, and strategic alignment across our platforms.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design Leadership & Quality Governance
-
Establish and enforce elite-level UX/UI standards across all products.
-
Partner closely with the Chief Experience Officer to evaluate interface readiness and jointly make final go/no-go decisions prior to release.
-
Conduct structured UX/UI design reviews and quality audits.
-
Identify and call out inconsistencies in alignment, spacing, typography, hierarchy, responsiveness, accessibility, and overall visual polish.
-
Ensure strict adherence to design systems, interaction standards, and brand guidelines.
2. Cross-Functional Accountability
-
Hold engineering teams accountable to approved UX/UI specifications.
-
Proactively address deviations from design standards and escalate concerns when necessary.
-
Create clear feedback loops between Product, Design, and Engineering.
-
Serve as the authoritative voice on user experience quality, while maintaining strong cross-functional collaboration.
3. Strategic Experience Direction
-
Work directly with the Chief Experience Officer to define and evolve the overall look, feel, and experiential standards of our product ecosystem.
-
Translate strategic brand vision into clear, enforceable interface principles.
-
Ensure consistency across platforms, user touchpoints, and product lines.
4. Alignment & Decision Facilitation
-
Help identify and drive the correct middle ground when differing opinions arise among design, product, or engineering team members.
-
Provide objective, standards-based guidance to resolve design debates - ensure designs are rooted in reason, not opinion.
-
Balance business priorities, technical realities, and user experience excellence to achieve optimal outcomes.
5. Industry Expertise Integration
-
Apply deep knowledge of the golf and private club industry to UX decisions.
-
Ensure workflows, terminology, and feature design reflect real-world operational realities of clubs.
-
Elevate the team’s industry understanding and ensure our experience reflects the expectations of members and club leadership.
6. Mentorship & Design Team Development
-
Provide structured, candid feedback to UX/UI designers.
-
Raise the confidence and execution standards of the design team.
-
Instill a culture of excellence, precision, and ownership.
-
Develop documentation, review frameworks, and quality checkpoints to institutionalize high standards.
What Success Looks Like in This Role
Success in this role is measured not only by visual polish, but by the overall experiential standard of our products and the confidence of our organization in the quality of what we ship.
The Lead UX Designer will succeed when:

Product lines create a genuine sense of ease of use for members, staff, and administrators.
-
Interfaces embody the themes of the private club industry such as refinement, discretion, and excellence in hospitality.
-
The experience feels intentional, elevated, and aligned with the expectations of high-end clubs and their members.
2. Workflows Continuously Improve Through Product Partnership
-
User workflows and processes are regularly refined through close consultation with the Product team.
-
Friction points are proactively identified and resolved before release.
-
Feature design prioritizes clarity, efficiency, and real-world operational practicality.
-
Experience decisions reflect thoughtful trade-offs, not convenience.
3. Our Products Look and Feel Modern
-
Color palettes are sophisticated, cohesive, and contemporary.
-
Typography choices reflect clarity, hierarchy, and brand alignment.
-
Screen layouts feel balanced, spacious, and purposeful.
-
The overall interface aesthetic signals innovation while respecting industry tradition.
4. Layouts Demonstrate Thoughtful, Intentional Design
-

-
Interactive elements are placed where users naturally expect them.
-
In mobile applications, primary action buttons are positioned for intuitive one-handed use.
-
Design decisions demonstrate a deep understanding of human behavior and ergonomics.
5. Quality Is Noticeable and Non-Negotiable
-
Engineering teams consistently adhere to approved UX/UI standards.
-
Design inconsistencies are caught before release, not after.
-
Stakeholders trust that any product approved for release meets an elite standard of experience quality.
