We have an exciting opportunity for a Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic (421A) to join our team of skilled fleet and operations professionals. The Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic will get the chance to assist in the mechanical repair and maintenance of our extensive fleet of heavy construction equipment including excavators, bulldozers, mining and agricultural equipment.
Schedule: Day shift, Monday to Friday
What you’ll be doing:
- Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on a wide variety of heavy equipment
- Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of equipment systems including hydraulics, electrical, driveline, steering, suspension, and brakes using hand tools and other specialized repair equipment
- Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s specifications
- Utilize OEM repair and parts software (Cat SIS + ET, Volvo Prosis + TechTool, Cummins Insite + QuickServ)
- Advise the company on work performed, general equipment condition and future repair requirements
- Occasionally perform mobile services on a rotating basis with other mechanics
Requirements:
- Driver’s licence with a clean abstract
- Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics, electrical and drive trains
- Familiarity with construction sites is an asset
- Physical ability to lift upwards of 50 lbs.
- Familiarity with hazards associated with the trade
Employment Credentials:
- Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (421A) or Agricultural Equipment Technician (425A) Certificate of Qualification, Truck and Coach Technician (310T) or currently enrolled in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (421A) apprenticeship program. Level 3 preferred
- Familiarity with Caterpillar, Volvo, Kubota or John Deere equipment is an asset

Compensation: The starting hourly wage for this role is generally between $35 and $50 per hour, depending on experience.
