GTA General Contractors is seeking an experienced and proactive Construction Site Supervisor to oversee commercial construction projects within the GTA. We are looking for a confident leader who understands how to effectively manage a site, communicate clearly, enforce site rules, and keep projects moving safely and efficiently.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of construction operations and project details, and will take ownership of the job by anticipating issues, coordinating trades, and ensuring work is completed to the highest standards.
Note: This position is initially offered on a contract basis for the duration of the project. We are committed to building long-term relationships with strong performers and, subject to future project opportunities and company needs, there may be the potential for contract renewal or a transition to a full-time/permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee daily site operations, maintaining a safe, organized, and productive work environment while promoting a strong safety culture.
- Develop a thorough understanding of project drawings, specifications, schedules, and scope requirements to ensure work is executed accurately and efficiently.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel to maintain productivity and ensure work progresses in accordance with the project schedule.
- Enforce company policies, health and safety requirements, and site rules, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and industry best practices.
- Maintain a high standard of quality control and workmanship, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with contract documents and project requirements.
- Prepare and submit Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) reports, site documentation, and other required records in accordance with company procedures.
- Anticipate, identify, and proactively resolve site issues before they impact schedule, quality, safety, or budget.
- Act as the primary point of contact on-site and communicate clearly, professionally, and confidently with clients, consultants, project managers, subcontractors, and trades.
- Provide regular progress updates, site reports, photographs, and documentation to the Project Manager, while escalating issues and risks in a timely manner.
- Monitor project schedules and coordinate activities to ensure milestones are achieved and projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standards of quality.
- Ensure site housekeeping, material management, and logistics are properly maintained to support efficient project execution.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professionalism while leading by example and maintaining positive relationships with all project stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Previous experience supervising industrial or commercial construction projects is required
- Education in Project Management, Engineering, or Construction is an asset
- Excellent understanding of construction drawings, sequencing, and site operations.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to command respect while maintaining positive working relationships.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, MS Projects and Procore construction management software is required.
- Experience with IHSA COR Health & Safety Program is an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.
- Ability to make decisions confidently and solve problems effectively.
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements and best practices.
