Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Long Haul Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting freight across long distances while ensuring the safe and timely delivery of goods. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to manage time effectively.
Duties
- Operate commercial vehicles to transport freight over long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, rest periods, and mileage as required by law.
- Communicate with dispatchers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.
- Load and unload freight as necessary, utilizing forklifts or other heavy equipment when required.
- Ensure the proper handling of cargo to prevent damage during transit.
- Perform basic automotive repairs and maintenance on the vehicle as needed.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding safety and compliance.
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly in long haul transportation.
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and regulations.
- Familiarity with operating forklifts and heavy equipment is preferred.
- Ability to perform basic automotive repairs and maintenance on vehicles.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with dispatchers and clients.
- Must be able to pass background checks and drug screenings as required.
