The Mustard Seed combats the root causes of poverty and homelessness with lasting change in the lives of those we serve. The Mustard Seed provides basic services – food, clothing and housing, and support services – education and employment, to those living in poverty within Alberta and British Columbia.
HR Advisor:
This permanent full-time role reports to the new Chief People Officer and will support designated business units. Success comes from the ability to work collaboratively and independently across a decentralized model. Proven generalist experience in all components of human resources.
- Candidate must understand and support transformational initiatives, have strong critical thinking skills, and manage a busy and dynamic workload.
- Strong HR Advisor/Business Partner background demonstrating commitment to helping leaders achieve success in working with their teams.
- Possess skill and competency in workforce planning, employee relations, recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Strong organizational skills with effective multi-tasking skills used managing multiple client groups.
- Commitment to building a collaborative work culture based on a faith based values and objectives.
Additional Requirements
- Be a skilled professional who is committed to helping The Mustard Seed maintain a Christ-centred culture
- Post-Secondary education in Human Resources Management or equivalent combination of experience and education, CHRP designation an asset
- Strong HR Generalist/Business Partner background with core competencies in the areas of workforce planning, employee relations, talent development, organizational change, labor relations, employee development, and performance management.
- Skilled in business acumen, communication, consultation, ethical standards, cultural awareness, HR expertise, and relationship management
- Ability to take initiative and work independently is a must
- Knowledge of employment law and human rights required
- Integrity, discretion and judgment with tact and diplomacy on confidential matters
- Meticulous attention to detail, ability to prioritize and strong time management skills
- Strong organizational skills with effective multi-tasking skills managing multiple client groups
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is essential
- Prior experience with HRIS systems and/or SharePoint
- Access to a vehicle is required; some travel required.
