Pest Control Technician (Casual/Part-Time with Growth Opportunity)

I'm not in a rush to fill this position, and I'm not looking to hire just anyone. I'm looking for someone local to Nova Scotia who knows the area, enjoys working with people, and wants to grow alongside a small business. If you have a great attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent customer service skills, I can teach the technical side of the job.
Holding a Nova Scotia Pesticide Applicator Certificate is a definite asset, but it is not required. The ideal candidate is someone who is dependable, teachable, and interested in building a long-term career in the pest control industry.
As a small, locally owned business, this position will begin as casual or part-time work, with opportunities for additional hours and responsibilities as the company grows. My goal is to find someone I can trust to eventually handle more day-to-day service work, allowing me to focus on expanding the business. For the right person, this role has the potential to become full-time.
What You'll Do
- Conduct thorough inspections to identify pest activity and potential entry points.
- Develop and carry out effective pest management solutions.
- Safely apply pest control products while following all provincial regulations and company procedures.
- Educate customers on pest prevention and provide clear recommendations.
- Complete accurate service reports and maintain detailed records.
- Install exclusion materials and perform minor repairs using basic hand tools (drill, tin snips, staple gun, wire mesh, etc.).
- Deliver professional, friendly customer service on every visit.
- Continue learning about new pests, treatment methods, and industry best practices.
What I'm Looking For
- A resident of Nova Scotia with good knowledge of the local area.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Reliable, honest, and able to work independently.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working indoors, outdoors, in crawl spaces, attics, and around insects and rodents.
- Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record.
- Pest control experience or a Nova Scotia Pesticide Applicator Certificate is an asset, but not required.
