Main Function:

Provision of engineering support to design and analysis projects
Duties:
Tasks of a student engineer may include some (but not necessarily all) of the following:
-
Carry out engineering change processes as necessary to support existing products
-
Develop basic detail and assembly drawings for products and equipment
-
Create 3-D models from 2-D drawings
-
Perform mechanical design calculations (static analysis, fatigue analysis, and/or structural integrity assessments of structures)
-
Troubleshoot systems to resolve issues relating to interpretation of design data
-
Collation, review and analysis of project program conditions and usage data
-
Generating technical reports to present suitable and sound findings / analysis / substantiation
The following duties are applicable to all engineering students:

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a professional manner to ensure effective working relationship with customers, clients, co-workers and management

Continue to grow, learn, and use relevant tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement, including building efficiency in correctly completing assigned tasks

Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas

Perform other duties as assigned
Employment Requirements:
- Must be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution
-
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have good working knowledge of 2D and/or 3D CAD and Microsoft Office

Ability to effectively and professionally work with multiple functions to support a coordinated flow of information

Strong verbal and written communication skills
-
Fluent written and oral English are mandatory

Ability to apply basic engineering knowledge

Ability to understand and interpret engineering requirements

Accuracy, thoroughness, and timeliness
-
Ability to provide support and assistance to co-workers as appropriate

Must be eligible to meet the requirements of export control regulations, including the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and Canadian government security requirements
