Position Overview
The Dental Assistant Level I serves as a foundational member of our clinical team. You will ensure the practice operates at peak efficiency by providing essential chairside support and maintaining rigorous infection control standards. This role is dedicated to creating a seamless workflow for our dentists and hygienists while ensuring every patient feels comfortable, safe, and well-cared for throughout their visit. Key Accountabilities
As a vital contributor to our clinical operations, you will be responsible for the following:
· Clinical Chairside Assistance: Support the Dentist during restorative and surgical procedures by anticipating needs, passing instruments, and managing moisture control.
· Infection Control & Sterilization: Execute the full cycle of instrument reprocessing—cleaning, packaging, and sterilization—while strictly adhering to IPAC standards.
· Treatment Room Preparation: Meticulously clean and prepare clinical areas with necessary instruments and materials prior to patient arrival.
· Radiographic Imaging: Expose, process, and mount dental radiographs in compliance with the HARP Act.
· Laboratory & Materials Management: Perform essential lab tasks (e.g., pouring models) and prepare restorative materials and cements according to specifications.
· Patient Intake & Comfort: Greet patients, update medical histories, and provide clear post-operative home care instructions.
· Inventory Stewardship: Monitor clinical supplies and replenish operatory stock to prevent service disruptions.
Qualifications and Expertise
· Education: Completion of an accredited Level I Dental Assisting program.
· Certification: Valid National Dental Assisting Examining Board (NDAEB) certificate and CDA I status in good standing with the ODAA.
· Licensure: Valid certification in dental radiography approved under the HARP Act.
· Technical Skill: Proficiency in digital charting and dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Abeldent).
· Clinical Excellence: Superior manual dexterity and a sophisticated understanding of complex dental procedures and materials.
· Communication: High degree of emotional intelligence with the ability to "Engage with Empathy" when managing patient anxieties.
· Professionalism: A proactive "ownership" mindset with a commitment to maintaining rigorous IPAC standards and continuing education.
