POSITION OVERVIEW
This is a combined, dual-role position. You will operate our rollforming machine during production runs and also assemble the finished steel profiles into wall frames, floor panels, and roof trusses. Both sides of the job are done in our Belleville facility, with occasional travel to job sites within Ontario for on-site assembly support.
No prior rollformer or steel framing experience is required. We provide full hands-on training. What matters most is that you show up reliably, follow instructions carefully, work safely, and take pride in doing a precise, consistent job.
RESPONSIBILITIES — ROLLFORMER OPERATION
- Set up and operate the Scottsdale cold-formed steel rollforming machine as directed by the supervisor
- Load steel coils and monitor material feed throughout production runs
- Read and follow production schedules, work orders, and cut lists
- Perform basic machine adjustments and profile changeovers between runs
- Conduct visual quality inspections on finished profiles — length, straightness, and punch locations
- Monitor and record machine output, defects, and any operational issues
- Perform daily and weekly preventive maintenance tasks
- Remove steel swarf and debris from the machine and work area throughout every shift
- Report any machine faults, unusual sounds, vibrations, or safety concerns immediately to the supervisor
- Follow all LOTO (lock-out/tag-out) procedures strictly before any maintenance or adjustment activity
- Maintain accurate production logs and daily machine checklists
RESPONSIBILITIES — STEEL FRAMING ASSEMBLY
- Assemble light gauge steel wall panels, floor framing systems, and roof trusses from pre-cut, pre-punched profiles
- Use rivet guns, screw guns, Truss Bolt tools, and hand tools to connect framing members per shop drawings
- Read and follow basic engineering drawings, component labels, and assembly instructions
- Sort, organize, and stage pre-cut steel profiles for efficient assembly workflow
- Inspect assembled frames for squareness, plumb, and correct fastener placement before handoff
- Load and unload steel components safely using proper lifting techniques and team lifts
- Assist with packaging, labelling, and preparing assembled panels for delivery
- Travel to and work at job sites within Ontario when required for on-site erection support
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area at all times
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools (screw guns, rivet guns, impact drivers, measuring tape)
- Ability to work comfortably in an industrial sound environment (machinery noise, compressors, screw guns)
- Good muscle memory and fast learning ability for hands-on, repetitive tasks
- Mechanical aptitude — comfortable around machinery, equipment, and metal components
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistent, accurate output
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform moderate lifting.
- Reliable and punctual — this role is critical to our production schedule
- Team player who communicates clearly and respects colleagues and supervisors
- Able to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment with shifting priorities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NOT REQUIRED)
- Prior experience framing
- Experience in construction manufacturing, or prefabrication assembly
- WHMIS 2015 certification
- Forklift operator licence
- Working at Heights certification
- First Aid / CPR certification
- Valid Ontario driver's licence (asset for job site travel)
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
DestNest Inc. operates a production facility with rotating machinery and roll-forming equipment. All employees are required to:
- Wear full PPE at all times: safety boots, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and high-visibility clothing
- Keep all head coverings and clothing fully secured and form-fitting near any rotating equipment
- Follow all OHSA and company safety rules without exception
Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
