Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and driven Operations Superintendent to lead our railway maintenance and construction projects. Reporting to ownership, the successful candidate will oversee daily operations, manage crews and equipment, ensure safety compliance, maintain client relationships, and drive project success from planning through completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee railway maintenance and construction projects from initiation to completion.
- Lead, mentor, and support field supervisors and crews to achieve project objectives.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.
- Plan and coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and productivity targets, taking corrective action as needed.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to uphold quality control.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Contribute to estimating, project planning, and contract review.
- Ensure compliance with railway regulations, company policies, and safety programs.
- Prepare reports and communicate project status to ownership and clients.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of management experience in construction, railway maintenance, or a related industry.
- Strong understanding of railway operations, maintenance, and construction practices.
- Proven leadership experience managing multiple crews and concurrent projects.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites across Western Canada (B.C. to Manitoba).
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with Class I or short-line railways.
- Knowledge of railway safety regulations and operating rules.
- Project management training or certification.
- Experience with budgeting, estimating, and contract administration.
