Boyle Street Education Centre (BSEC) is a public charter school that provides holistic, trauma-informed education to high-needs youth who have experienced interruptions in their formal learning. Our school community supports students in achieving both academic success and personal growth, with wraparound services integrated into daily school life.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a compassionate, flexible, and skilled Math Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of foundational numeracy instruction and a deep commitment to meeting students at their level - many of whom read and compute well below grade level. You will be responsible for delivering Alberta Education approved math programming using inclusive, adaptive strategies.
Qualifications:
Alberta Permanent or Interim Professional Teaching Certificate.
Assets:
- Experience teaching students with complex needs, including low literacy and numeracy levels.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong, trusting relationships with youth from diverse and often marginalized backgrounds.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed practices and culturally responsive pedagogy.
- Strong classroom management skills grounded in empathy and structure.
- Ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team (including inclusive education support team, mental health professionals, social workers, and cultural advisors).
- Experience working with Indigenous youth and communities.
