Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team at a children's summer near Ottawa, Ontario. Fun adventurous experience working in a summer camp kitchen. Contract length June until mid August. You must be willing to relocate and live on site at the summer camp.
The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations, ensuring that our food service meets the highest standards of quality and presentation. The Sous Chef will lead by example, fostering a positive environment while managing kitchen staff and maintaining food safety protocols.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes in accordance with restaurant standards.
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and training to ensure efficient food handling and preparation.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Lead by example, demonstrating effective team management skills to motivate staff during busy service periods.
- Monitor food quality and consistency, making adjustments as necessary to meet customer expectations.
- Handle any kitchen-related issues or emergencies that may arise during service.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within the hospitality or restaurant industry.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, food safety standards, and kitchen equipment.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team effectively.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others while maintaining a positive attitude under pressure.
- Familiarity with various cuisines and cooking styles is preferred but not required.
- A passion for culinary arts and commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
