The intern position will help support Crown’s Production Planning organization that leads planning activities for the fifteen (15) manufacturing operations that make up the North American Beverage Division. The intern will be involved in several initiatives to support the organizations initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity that will provide you with responsibility and allow you to learn about Crown’s business understanding the real-world implications of the processes you will impact. Responsibilities and accountabilities for this role include but are not restricted to the following areas:
Revise the training/learning plan for new Production Control (PC) managers and Customer Service Representatives (CSR). Create standardized and updated templates for new employees.
Create a new process that each PC manager can send to their warehouses providing outbound shipments by month by truckload. This will be utilized in predictability of warehouse usage and optimized staffing.
Maintenance of Crown’s production planning SharePoint site to ensure system is up-to-date, useful, and relevant.
Create corporate reporting process showing scheduled vs. produced quantities by plant by month This will optimize capacity and improve complexion of inventory.
The ideal candidate for this role would have the following competencies and attributes:
Pursuing BS degree in business, logistics, operations research, or related area with the desire to work in a manufacturing organization after graduation.
Previous experience in a Production Planning/Logistics/Materials handling role a plus.
Experience with Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing are highly desired.
Knowledge of AS400 operating systems is a plus.
Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office with specific emphasis on Excel, Access, and Word
Ability to develop processes, train end users, and implement projects to completion.
Capable of managing changing business needs and requirements.
Must be willing to relocate in future for full-time opportunities.
The position may require limited domestic/international travel.
