Overview
Top Out Climbing Co-op is seeking a Climbing Coach to lead our youth climbing programs. Our program structure is already established—we're looking for an energetic, creative, and reliable individual to bring our programs to life in a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment. Programming runs from approximately October through until May.
The ideal candidate is passionate about climbing, enjoys working with youth, and is committed to helping young climbers develop skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of the sport.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise youth climbing programs during scheduled sessions
- Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Ensure the safety of all participants by following established policies and procedures
- Teach climbing skills and techniques appropriate to participants' age and ability level
- Encourage teamwork, confidence, and personal growth among participants
- Communicate effectively with parents, participants, and gym staff
- Assist with program planning and preparation as needed
Training, Education, Experience, and Skills
- Vulnerable Sector Check is required
- Previous experience working with youth
- Knowledge of indoor rock climbing
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to motivate, engage, and inspire young climbers
- Previous experience coaching or leading programs is an asset, but not required
- Experience teaching belay classes and/or ACMG Level 1 is an asset, but is not required
- Current First Aid certification is an asset, but not required
What We Offer
- Approx. 5 hours per week while teams are in session
- $20.00 to $22.00 per hour
- Free gym membership while teams are in session
