The Payroll/HRIS Analyst is primarily responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll for our offices across Canada and providing Human Resources Information System support to ensure effective and efficient HR operations. Including, but not limited to system configuration and maintenance, benefits coordination and admin, and HR file maintenance.
Responsibilities:
Payroll: Manage all aspects of our bi-weekly payroll administration, including data entry, deductions, and reconciliations, while providing expertise in interpreting, administering, and implementing corporate policies affecting compensation and benefits in Dayforce.
- Process all applicable employee payroll changes, e.g. new hire, salary change, retro-pay, top-up, pay adjustments, termination pay, ROE, etc.
- Verify hours worked and ensure timely payment for all employees
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll taxes, benefits, and RRSP contributions remittance.
- Update payroll, time, and attendance, and Dayforce records by entering exemptions, insurance coverage changes, and vacation adjustments
- Prepare and complete reports, journal entries, statements, and summaries related to all payroll accounts, including third-party related disbursements; reconciliation and issuance of summaries related to the Income Tax Act, including year-end reconciliation and processing of T4 earnings, Employer Health Tax, T2200s and WCB
- Respond to payroll inquiries from employees and managers
- Review payroll output per established procedures before finalizing and submitting the payroll to ensure accuracy
- Assist with projects related to developing and implementing payroll procedures, systems, and practice
- Reconcile monthly employee benefit billings and identify discrepancies between payroll and Dayforce
HRIS Analyst: Assist in developing and executing policies and provide guidance and interpretation for business operations.
- Respond to employment verifications and surveys as needed
- Support and maintain Dayforce across multiple HRIS functional areas, helping ensure the system continues to meet the needs of HR and the broader business
- Function as a key contributor in building foundational Dayforce architecture, including end-to-end employee lifecycle processes
- Analyze the impact of system changes across Dayforce modules, including business processes, reports, calculated fields, security, workbooks, and documentation
- Configure Dayforce business processes, including notifications, condition and validation rules, related documents, EIBs, and related system elements
- Identify opportunities to simplify, enhance, and optimize existing processes in alignment with the business practices
- Support quarterly Dayforce releases, including testing, validation, and performance analysis
- Document business requirements in a standardized way and create process documentation following HRIS changes or improvements
- Monitor the HRIS mailbox, respond to internal and external customers, troubleshoot issues, and help resolve inquiries in a timely manner
- Champion and enforce strong data governance to ensure all people records remain highly accurate, auditable, and reliable
- Lead quarterly data audits in Dayforce systems, working with internal and external stakeholders on resolve errors and review findings
- Consultative primary point of contact for employee and manager inquiries ensuring absolute discretion and security with highly sensitive data
- Develop ad hoc and specialized reports to support requests from leaders, the HR team and other internal and external parties.
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of payroll experience with Ceridian/Dayforce or another similar system is necessary
- Post-secondary education in Business, IT, or related discipline
- Prior experience in HR is advantageous
- Strong communication skills, capable of describing Payroll and HRIS technical functionality to non-technical users Ability to work effectively in dynamic environments, managing interruptions, and adjusting priorities accordingly
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, specifically excel
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of the role
