We are seeking an experienced and reliable DZ Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating tri-axle dump trucks and hooklift trucks and be comfortable working in a fast-paced landscaping/construction material-delivery environment.
This position involves transporting and delivering a variety of construction and landscaping materials, equipment, and bins to job sites, customers, and other locations throughout the region. The successful candidate must be safety-conscious, dependable, professional, and capable of working independently.
Experience with tri-axle dump trucks and hooklift systems is strongly preferred and will be considered an important qualification for this position.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate tri-axle dump trucks to transport materials such as gravel, sand, soil, mulch, and other construction and landscaping materials.
- Operate hooklift trucks to deliver, place, and pick up bins and containers at customer and construction job sites.
- Transport equipment, materials, and supplies between company yards, suppliers, customer locations, and construction/landscaping job sites.
- Safely load, secure, transport, unload, and dump materials as required.
- Operate hydraulic dumping and hooklift equipment safely and efficiently.
- Position and place bins accurately in confined or active construction/job-site environments.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any mechanical or safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate delivery tickets, logs, and other required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, customers, contractors, and job-site personnel.
- Follow job-site safety procedures and all applicable traffic and transportation regulations.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials or equipment when required.
- Operate a front-end loader, skid steer, forklift, or other heavy equipment when qualified and required.
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance and identify mechanical issues that may require attention.
- Keep trucks, equipment, and work areas clean and in safe operating condition.
- Work independently while managing multiple deliveries, pickups, and changing schedules throughout the day.
- Perform other driving and general duties related to the company's landscaping, excavation, construction, and material-delivery operations as required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid DZ driver's licence with a clean and acceptable driving record.
- Proven experience operating tri-axle dump trucks.
- Proven experience operating hooklift trucks and placing/picking up bins.
- Experience transporting and handling construction or landscaping materials.
- Ability to safely operate hydraulic dump and hooklift systems.
- Knowledge of proper load securement and commercial vehicle safety requirements.
- Ability to complete required vehicle inspections and maintain accurate driving and delivery records.
- Strong understanding of safe driving practices and job-site safety.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and follow changing delivery schedules.
- Reliable transportation to and from the workplace.
- Physical ability to perform job-site duties, including climbing in and out of trucks, inspecting equipment, connecting/handling equipment as required, and assisting with loading or unloading when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in landscaping/construction material delivery.
- Experience delivering and picking up waste/disposal bins for construction sites.
- Experience working around excavators, loaders, skid steers, and other heavy equipment.
- Experience transporting equipment and materials to active construction sites.
- Experience operating a front-end loader or other heavy equipment.
- Basic automotive or diesel-mechanical knowledge.
- Familiarity with commercial vehicle inspection and maintenance requirements.
- Previous experience working with contractors, construction companies, or material suppliers.
