The Engineering (ME & Design) Intern will be responsible for both Design Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering initiatives, contributing to product design, 2D/3D modelling, prototype development, continuous improvement, automation, lean manufacturing, and workflow optimization. This dual-exposure internship is designed to challenge and develop your skills, broaden your perspective, and prepare you for a successful engineering career.
Location: Milton, Ontario, Canada
4 days in person / 1 day remote
Salary: $55,000
Start Date: September 2026, for a duration of 12 months.
Responsibilities
Engineering Design:

Collaborate with senior engineers on the design and development of new engineering projects.

Create and modify 2D and 3D models using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.

Participate in brainstorming sessions to contribute creative ideas for product design and enhancements.

Conduct research and analysis to support design decisions, including material selection and feasibility studies

Prepare technical documentation such as design specifications, reports, and presentations.
- Assist in prototype development, testing, and data collection to evaluate design performance.

Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues throughout the project lifecycle.

Maintain organized project files and documentation.
Manufacturing Engineering:

Evaluate and develop innovative solutions to complex manufacturing production problems.

Develop and maintain Digital Work Instructions for existing and new manufacturing processes.

Contribute to Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Zero Defect programs.
- Analyze production workflows, process safety, and quality output to recommend improvements.

Apply lean manufacturing principles to optimize manufacturing efficiency and process lead times.
- Design and direct the fabrication of custom process solutions, including tooling, work holding solutions and guarding.

Manage capital equipment projects.

Ensure safety and ergonomic considerations are integrated into all process changes.

Conduct workflow and layout analyses to improve shop floor organization, and reduce waste.
- Participate in special projects aimed at advancing manufacturing capabilities.
Qualifications
Education/Certification Requirements:
Currently enrolled or completion in an undergraduate program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
Experience and Skills:

Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD is preferred.
