We are looking for a Behaviour Technician for our Special Needs respite program in Richmond. You will work as part of a team to provide support, care, and mentorship to a diverse range of children and youth, ages 12-18 diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. This line is 40 hours/week, Tuesday-Saturday, 3pm-11pm shifts.
The Behaviour Technician leads the therapeutic home team’s implementation of client specific behaviour support and safety plans. This is a unique and key leadership role that coordinates with the clinical team to develop treatment plans for each client at the respite program and will provide role modeling, training, clinical direction and facilitate skill development for the front line team as they master best practice in each domain of the Behaviour Support Plan. The Behaviour Technician oversees the collection of data, ABC charts and supports the team in making adjustments to treatment approaches to ensure client success. The Behaviour Technician attends integrated case management meetings to present on client’s needs, data and progress.
You must have:
Related post-secondary education, training, and be willing to complete additional training through Hollyburn
Minimum 2 years of experience working with children/youth with ASD, preferably in a therapeutic home setting
Experience dealing with challenging behavior, strategy development, advocacy, community networking, and life skills management
Ability to work collaboratively with community resources within a team setting and willing to embrace instruction
Knowledge of behaviour support and safety plans
Effective crisis management skills
Clear, direct and sensitive verbal and written communication skills
Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check and Ministry of Children and Family Development consolidated check

You’ll score more points if you have:
A background and experience using Applied Behavior Analysis
Current First Aid and CPR certificate
Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification
Valid Mandt Systems training
Experience or knowledge with client data tracking and analysis
Knowledge of therapeutic approaches

As a Behaviour Technician you are in a leadership role to implement client treatment plans. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Assisting the Program Supervisor in maintaining client files
Working with the Clinical Manager and team to support client intakes, transitions and discharges from programs
Monitoring and overseeing data collection and tracking
Taking a leadership role in implementing client behaviour support and safety plans
Providing coaching to frontline team members, both Full-Time and Relief, to ensure that they develop appropriate skills to achieve successful outcome with clients
Salary: $24.00-$26.50/hour plus benefits
