Edmonton Catholic Schools is accepting applications for casual Educational Assistant positions for day-to-day assignments in various schools /sites throughout the Division. This is a casual position, with no guarantee of hours to be worked. However, all casual hires are eligible to apply to internal temporary or permanent positions. The salary range for a temporary or permanent position would be $26,280.00 - $38,100.00 prorated to your FTE. Please note - the majority of Educational Assistant positions are 0.8 FTE positions.
We currently have several temporary positions to fill, applicants who are interviewed will be hired to the substitute roster and will be able to apply to temporary positions once hired.
The job works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assist students in learning and developing skills in the areas of: socialization, communication and behavior. The job also provides general support in the classroom.
Assist teacher with planning, preparing and implementing programs to meet students’ needs;
Organize classroom materials, activities, equipment and programs;
Assist multi-disciplinary team with implementation of developmental strategies;
Provide a range of personal and physical care;
Assist co-workers during peak periods and absences.
High School diploma plus certificate/diploma in an area related to early childhood education or special needs education, plus one year directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and qualifications;
Knowledge of intervention techniques and strategies, first aid, CPR and administering medication;
Knowledge of Microsoft programs including Word, Outlook and the internet;
Ability to communicate with sensitivity, diplomacy and tact is essential;
Ability to effectively communicate in the English language both oral and written with the ability to develop and maintain communication with students, teachers and specialists; fluency in French is an asset;
Ability to travel to sites within Edmonton.
