Technical Sales and Estimation Project Lead – Water Management & Site Decontamination

Our client is a specialty water management and environmental services provider supporting construction, industrial, infrastructure, and resource projects across Canada. They have retained Cameron Lappin from the Lock Search Group to partner in their search to bring on a Technical Sales & Estimation Project Lead to join their BC team.
The Technical Sales & Estimation Project Lead will be responsible for developing technical water solutions specifically for site decontamination for the construction industry, preparing accurate estimates and quotations, and providing customers with solutions to complex water management challenges. The role will support new project opportunities while serving as the internal owner of estimating and pricing systems. This involves ensuring RFQs and RFPs remain accurate, scalable, and aligned with business objectives. Working closely with Sales, Operations, Technical Services, Finance, and external partners, this position will help secure profitable projects while continuously improving estimating and pricing processes.
Responsibilities:
- Engage with contractors, consultants, developers, and project stakeholders to understand requirements and develop tailored, compliant water management solutions.
- Review drawings, specifications, environmental reports, and bid documents to prepare accurate, competitive estimates and quotations.
- Manage opportunities from initial inquiry through award, assessing project risks, assumptions, exclusions, and profitability.
- Own and continuously improve estimating models, pricing tools, costing systems, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Develop high-quality proposals and build strong customer relationships through technical expertise, responsive service, and practical solutions.
- Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Project Management, Finance, and Technical Services to develop winning solutions and support estimating processes and tools.
- Establish consistent estimating best practices across water management divisions while improving workflow efficiency and quotation turnaround times.
- Deliver accurate estimates with clear assumptions, defined costs, and strong visibility into project margins while maintaining quality and profitability.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in construction estimating, technical sales, project costing, environmental services, water management, or a related industry.
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in Chemistry, Environmental Technology, Business, Finance, or Engineering focus
- Certifications in Project Management, Construction or environmental studies would be a bonus
- Strong understanding of construction procurement, tendering, estimating, and commercial project delivery.
- Advanced Excel skills with experience developing and managing complex costing, pricing, and estimating models.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, project specifications, environmental reports, and bid documents.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to evaluate costs, pricing, margins, project risks, and profitability.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills with both customers and internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to improve productivity, efficiency, and estimating processes.
- Experience in dewatering, temporary water treatment, bypass pumping, environmental remediation, or related water management services is an asset.
- Familiarity with CRM and ERP systems; experience with Power BI, Power Query, SQL, VBA, Office Scripts, or similar analytical tools is an asset.
