Job Summary:
The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) is a cornerstone of North Star Cardiology, offering both clinical and clerical support. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic start-up environment and is eager to grow with the clinic. Welcoming visitors to the clinic you will demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and strong interpersonal skills. This role includes scheduling, registration, and confirmation of patient appointments; obtaining and maintaining accurate patient and clinical data; physician billing, managing telephone, male, and electronic correspondence; and ensuring efficient and effective patient flow including completing patient’s height, weight, and vital signs. You are a team player that is devoted to your patients, families, and colleagues with a desire to continually make things better.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical office assistant diploma/certificate preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical setting
- Experience working with children preferred
Skills:
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills (other languages an asset)
- Ability to type 60-70 words per minute
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Office and Mac applications
- Proficiency using Accuro EMR and Alberta Netcare Portal
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of sitting
- Repetitive tasks (e.g. answering phone, computer work, room cleaning)
- Transport patients of varying size with limited mobility (e.g. walkers, wheelchairs, etc.)
