About the Role
A growing advanced materials manufacturer in Surrey, BC is seeking a hands-on Process Engineer to support the development, optimization, and scale-up of polymer materials and manufacturing processes.This role is ideal for an engineer with experience in plastics manufacturing, extrusion, compounding, injection molding, or related processing environments who enjoys solving technical problems and working directly with manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
- Optimize and troubleshoot polymer processing operations including extrusion, compounding, and related manufacturing processes
- Support product development, process scale-up, and commercialization activities
- Investigate production and quality issues and implement corrective actions
- Analyze manufacturing and testing data to identify process improvement opportunities
- Support production trials, process validation, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Develop SOPs, work instructions, and technical documentation
- Collaborate with production, suppliers, technical teams, and external manufacturing partners
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Polymer, Plastics, Chemical, Materials, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- 2-5 years of manufacturing or process engineering experience
- Experience with plastics processing, extrusion, compounding, injection molding, or similar manufacturing environments
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to analyze process data and recommend improvements
- Comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with biodegradable, compostable, recycled, or bio-based materials
- Exposure to Design of Experiments (DOE), SPC, or statistical analysis tools
- EIT designation or eligibility for registration in British Columbia
- Experience supporting scale-up, pilot trials, or commercialization projects
