We currently have a full-time position available for a Trailer Mechanic/ Apprentice at our Paradise, NL location.
We are looking for a hands-on, mechanically inclined individual to support the repair and maintenance of commercial trailers, including refrigerated and dry vans. This role works in a fast-paced, heavy repair shop environment and requires physical strength, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
Repair and replace trailer components, including brake systems, bearings, suspension, electrical systems, and hitch assemblies
Perform diagnostics to identify mechanical and structural issues using appropriate tools and testing methods
Inspect, test, and troubleshoot trailers to locate faults and determine required repairs
Complete adjustments and repairs to meet manufacturer and safety specifications
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on commercial trailers
Review work orders and communicate effectively with Service Advisors and team members
Accurately document work performed, parts used, and issues identified
Assist in estimating labour time and required repairs
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in a heavy-duty shop setting
Follow all company health, safety, and environmental procedures
Qualifications & Skills:
Registered apprentice in a relevant trade (Truck & Transport, Trailer Repair, or similar) or strong interest in pursuing apprenticeship
Previous experience in a mechanical, automotive, or heavy equipment environment is an asset
Strong mechanical aptitude with a willingness to learn from experienced technicians
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Valid driver’s license
