Job Description
Gilead Sciences in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (Gilead Alberta ULC) is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated professional capable of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment. The successful candidate will assume a full-time employment role in the capacity of Research Associate in Gilead Alberta’s Quality Control department. Position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:
Conducts routine and non-routine analyses of raw materials, intermediates, and finished product samples.
Performs cleaning verification analysis of manufacturing equipment.
Develops and applies knowledge of site procedures (SOPs).
Develops and applies knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) [e.g. ICH Q7].
Reviews analytical data and results of testing to ensure accuracy and compliance to appropriate specifications and protocols.
Attends all group meetings and staff training sessions. Contributes when required.
Suggests improvements to laboratory test methods, procedures when noted.
Routinely uses software such as Empower, LIMS, MS Word, MS Excel.
Participates in weekly laboratory clean-up.
Other duties as required.
Performs maintenance and calibration of analytical instrumentation.
Applies knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) on a daily basis.
Participates in group meetings. May present data or prepare information for others to present.

Knowledge, Experience, & Skills:
Entry level for BS, MS degree with no experience.
AA degree plus some lab experience.
Familiarity with any of the following analytical instruments: HPLC, GC, ICP, LC-MS, GC-MS, NMR.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are required.
