Range Safety Officer
Description
Responsible for the safe operation of the rifle and handgun ranges. Monitor shooters for safe operation, ensure safety rules are followed, and protect range assets from unsupervised shooting by being on the firing line in a supervisory role, assist shooters with questions and implementing existing shooting procedures on the ranges to ensure order and control of the firing line.
Essential Functions
Display honest, trustworthy, and ethical behavior when dealing with internal and external customers.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Regular attendance that is punctual and dependable is required.
Serve as Range Safety Officer (RSO) on rifle and handgun range and provide shooter assistance and supervision on all venues.
Clean shooting area and perform minor repairs on equipment.
Assist in keeping range clean and orderly.
Assist in maintaining inventories of parts and equipment within the range.
Assist in the training and supervision of others in the safe operation of equipment and performance of functions.
Assist in all aspects of business
Utilize proper safety precautions in all work performed.
May perform semi-skilled and skilled tasks involving the maintenance, construction and repair of park and recreational facilities.
May assist in other sections of the store as necessary.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge of:
Methods, techniques, and procedures related to assigned area of responsibility.
Basic shooting instruction or an ability to gain such knowledge.
Basic knowledge of shooting sports or an ability to gain such knowledge.
Shooting sports equipment used in the facility or an ability to gain such knowledge.
Basic knowledge of each shooting venue or an ability to gain such knowledge.
Public relations skills necessary to diffuse problems and maintain a positive image of the organization.
Purposes and uses of a variety of vehicles, equipment, power tools and hand tools including motorized pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
Ability to:
Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Work outside in a variety of weather conditions and temputures.
Define and offer solutions to resolve problems. Use knowledge of the organization to identify helpful resources.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Provide functional and technical supervision to less experienced personnel.
Work effectively in the absence of close supervision.
Assist in the training and supervision of others in the safe operation of equipment and performance of functions.

Experience:
No experience is necessary, but preferred.
Training:
Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
License or Certification:
Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, an appropriate, valid Pal or RPal license.
Obtain Range Safety Officer Certification.
Working Hours:
Part time hours are 10 -20 per week full time is 32 - 40.
