The Role: We’re hiring a Candle Studio Lead, someone to help coordinate our day-to-day candle production and work alongside our team.
You’ll be working with 3–5 Studio Artisans at a time (we currently have 10 artisans in total), supporting them through the candle-making process. That includes everything from pouring wax and prepping packaging to managing supplies and keeping things on track.
This is a hands-on role. You’ll be leading by example, helping people learn, solving problems as they come up, and keeping things running smoothly. We’re looking for someone who knows how to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Plan and organize the daily production schedule
- Work alongside the team to pour candles, prep packaging, and ship orders
- Track supplies and help reorder materials when needed
- Keep an eye on quality while encouraging people to learn and improve
- Help new team members learn the ropes through simple, supportive training
- Foster a friendly, inclusive environment where everyone feels valued
- Encourage peer-to-peer learning and celebrate individual milestones
- Support a studio culture where feedback is kind, clear, and focused on growth
- Help with social media video creation (training provided, no experience needed)
The Details:
- Employment Type: Part-time, hourly
- Hours: Part-time, scheduled within business hours of Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM (with occasional evenings/weekends with notice)
- Location: On-site at Community Living Ajax building (177 Dowty Rd, Ajax, ON L1S 2G3)
- Physical Requirements: Expect to be on your feet, lifting trays of candles, moving boxes, and staying active throughout the day
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check: Required for this roleQualifications:
- Experience in a production, manufacturing, or hands-on operational environment (not required but an asset)
- Experience working with or supporting adults facing barriers to employment, including intellectual and developmental disabilities is a strong asset
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and adapt to changing priorities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable giving and receiving feedback in a constructive and respectful way
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a safe and supportive workplace
