Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated assistant carpenter to join our new home construction team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in carpentry, concrete work, and general construction practices. This role offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilizing a variety of tools and techniques to deliver high-quality results. Candidates must be reliable, safety-conscious, and eager to contribute to our team’s success. All current required safety certifications for the province of Ontario are a must. Work vehicle and required tools are to be discussed. A valid Ontario driver's license is required.
Duties
- Perform concrete forming of footings and walls
- Perform all aspects of residential wood framing
- Operate hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment safely and effectively
- Install siding, framing, and other structural components according to project specifications
- Conduct heavy lifting and manual labor as required for construction tasks
- Utilize woodworking skills for custom carpentry projects and repairs
- Follow safety protocols during all phases of construction work
- Assist in the setup and cleanup of job sites, maintaining a clean and organized work environment
Experience
- Hands-on experience with framing is preferred
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and woodworking equipment proficiently
- Prior experience in siding installation or related exterior construction is a plus
- Strong understanding of safety procedures in construction environments
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in physically demanding conditions for extended periods
