Labourer – Earthworks & Underground Utilities

We’re looking for reliable, hard-working Labourers to join our Earthworks and Underground Utilities crews. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in physical work, follows direction well, and wants to be part of a strong team installing water, sewer, and underground infrastructure on civil and municipal projects across Calgary.

The Role
Reporting to the Site Foreman, you will work as part of the underground utilities and earthworks crew. Your primary focus will be supporting pipe installation, excavation, backfilling, and general site work to help deliver high-quality municipal projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with excavation, pipe laying, bedding, and backfilling of underground utilities
- Perform hand digging, shoveling, raking, and grading as required
- Handle and place pipe, fittings, and materials
- Support compaction and finish work around trenches and structures
- Assist operators and ground crews with material handling and site preparation
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite
- Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety meetings
- Follow all safety procedures and report hazards or near misses immediately
- Perform other labour duties as assigned by the Foreman
Requirements
- Physically fit and able to perform manual labour in all weather conditions, including heavy lifting
- Strong work ethic, reliable, and able to follow direction
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and reliable transportation preferred
- CSTS 2020 and Ground Disturbance Level 2 preferred (or willing to obtain)
- Previous construction or underground utility experience is an asset but not required
